Penarth yacht club boats are easily identified by their turquoise sails…and they launch from Penarth beach…here they are launching their craft from the rocky pebbles at the bottom of the slipway. The Esplanade next to Penarth pier is a perfect spot to watch the dinghies, study them, draw and paint these small boats. I have been doing so for years. I am forever painting them – a reiteration, over and over. Pieces of paper, a fluttering of art in different sizes, different shapes and brush strokes along different lines, and paint drying over differing times. A blur of sails and waves and women and men.
